Samsung Galaxy Core Prime phone

The time has come where I had to upgrade my phone. Previously I had a Huawei smartphone. I can’t remember the exact model but all I know is that it gave me a lot of trouble. As most of you know, I am in college and don’t have a lot of disposable income. Overall my budget was around €150/$165. The phone I decided the pickup was the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime.

There is a lot of budget smartphones on the market at the moment, but these phones usually have a short life span, as well as having poor specs. The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime cost me €129/$140. The phone had great specs for the price (will include below). I personally had to wait two weeks for this phone to come in stock due to the device being in high demand.

The core prime had the usual bells and whistles attached with most phone. It included:

  • Samsung branded headphones
  • Charger
  • Instruction manuals
  • Samsung Galaxy Core Prime device

The device specs are as follows:

  • Display: 4.5″ screen, 480 x 800 pixels
  • OS: Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) upgradable to 5.0.2 (Lollipop)
  • CPU: Cortex-A53 Quad-Core 1.2GHz
  • GPU: Adreno 306
  • Storage: 8GB, MicroSD up to 64GB, 1GB RAM
  • Camera: Front 5MP 2592 х 1944 pixels with LED flash. Video records at 720p at 30 FPS. Front is 2MP
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Radio and microUSB v2.0

As you can see for the specs, you get a top-quality brand name as well as some great internal components. I’ve had this phone for about one month now. This performance from this phone is something that I would expect from at least a €230/$250. The phone is quick. Usually when I get a phone its stays quick for about a month but then performance starts the decrease. This phone did not. I use it every day. The battery life is about 13 hours. This is 13 hours of a lot of use e.g. at least checking social media once every half an hour.

Overall the phone is performing well. It certainly outperforms its price. It is currently my daily driver and is giving me no issues. If you’re in need of a cheap smartphone that can handle everyday tasks, the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime will be ideal. The only issue I would have with the phone is the cameras, the quality is just below average but this isn’t a deal breaker in my opinion.
